Summer's World

"My favorite food is peaches...

My newest food is broccoli.

...and cheerios.

Buster's newest food is also cheerios.............and his favorite food..........well, Buster likes food.

I'm learning to drink from my sippy cup.
Here I am with daddy at my favorite hangout, The Bean Scene on Murphy St. in Sunnyvale.

When I'm not staring at the owner, Kenny, trying to make him smile at me, I am staring at this ceiling fan. I'm obsessed!

Here I am with one of my friends, Sofia. We like to yell!"

There's a mommy bird with a new chick in a planter box in our yard. Here they are watching me take their picture.

More of the moon

I took this shot Tuesday night, June 19, 2007. It's OK, but the moon moves around at a pretty good speed. Hard to get a great shot.

Father's Day!

... or is it Fathers Day? There are more than one of us you know. I'll stick with the possessive and take ownership of mine, which I enjoyed on Sunday.
Here's why:

Deep Sky

I went out for a little deep sky photography Thursday night, and it's really cool. I used a deep sky imager (DSI) which is like a digital camera censor chip that hooks directly into where the telescope eyepiece normally sits. It sees a lot more than your eye, and transmits that image to your computer which records the snapshots. This photo is relatively boring, and not real "deep" into the sky. Until you realize that each dot is a sun, likely long dead and collapsed upon itself only to release photons of light that we see. A star cluster is a bunch of these and I am trying to get a good shot. This is M13 (Messier catalog objects, FYI) of the constellation Hercules. Just dots, until you think about it. I'll try to get a better one this weekend.

Happy Birthday Boardwalk!

The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk turns 100 this year. I went there recently for an upcoming story re: same. Cool place, as I well know. :)

Here's a few more.

The Blessing of Summer

Yesterday I (Julia) took Summer to be blessed by Amma. Amma is known in The West as the "The Hugging Saint." She tours to the U.S. twice a year from India and gives her blessing in the form of a hug. This blessing is called darshan in Hindi. Darshan roughly translates as "vision" and is used to describe meeting with a holy person. If you've never been blessed by Amma I highly recommend it. It is a truly unique and wonderful experience.

Of course, Summer was all smiles and seemed to enjoy the blessing as well as the visit at M.A. Center in San Ramon. It is a beautiful place with a pond of lillies and swans. As you can see she liked exploring the sticks. Luckily I snapped this picture just in time before stopping her from shoving a handful of sticks in her mouth. I'm sure that won't be the last time. Now that Summer is getting her top two teeth, she wants to chomp on everything. And by the way, she is a much better eater these days!!

Lazy Saturday... with burgers

We went to The Counter in Palo Alto for burgers today. Not bad. Service was iffy, burgers were OK, but the weather was nice. That's about all you can ask for.
